monday drive
given the fact i'm still up & it's now friday ... i'm posting before i crash for the night. ten points to the first person to correctly identify where i'm driving in this video. i think it's too quick to read the street signs, but at one point i'm right around the corner from the home of a parent of one of you.

merry tossmas?
riddle me this: given the cause of his consternation, why does he make references to "us" and "we" and "our holiday" ... but never says the word "Christians"?

are you kidding me?
no, no ... you have to keep watching (even if the music is a little annoying after awhile). they actually use a human as a jump rope in the men's group category.

driving through deadwood after the corduroy vinyl show saturday night.
driving through new mexico this afternoon. i wanted to completely drain the battery so i could give it a fresh charge ... and a quick video did the trick.

storm videos
this one is looking northwest from the house - towards griffith.
and this one is looking southeast from the house - away from griffith. :) you can hear beth & i talking in this one ... but you can also hear the rain & thunder. i love thunder.
i shot some at the railcats stadium, too, but i don't like them as well. if i had some video-editing software i could just pull out the good parts. but i don't.

why not?
i'm trying to stay awake long enough to get this load of laundry done ... and posting keeps me awake. so here's some random stuff.
we presented a local dancing with the stars this spring. the fellow who created this video disabled the embed feature, so you'll have to follow this link to see it. well, actually you could follow either of the two links ... they should both take you to the right place.
according to flickr, i currently have 981 photos taken during the month of july. i'm pretty sure i can shoot 19 photos in the next three days. kinda ticked me off that i missed a photo yesterday because my camera wasn't with me. i had the case, but not the camera. fat lot of the good that did me.

jeff & roxanne had a photo booth at their reception. we did our best to make fools of ourselves. repeatedly. it was a good time.
i stink at responding to messages on facebook. i'd apologize, but that's just the way it is. i'm a little better at responding to messages on myspace ... but not by much. shoot, i figure i'm doing good to respond to e-mails in a timely fashion. that's right. that means those of you who have been getting regular responses out of me within a couple of days ought to feel special.
i had the admin for a couple of flickr groups ask me to add some of my photos to the groups' pools. i have no idea if that sentence makes any sense. but i now have photos in the old barns, farms & equipment group and clouds, storms, sunsets and sunrises group. granted, the other members of these groups take the most amazing photos that completely dwarf mine ... but very cool to have someone recognize some potential in your work.
i want to take more photos. this would be easily accomplished if i executed "the plan."
what? you don't know about "the plan" yet? i want to quit my job, liquidate all my assets (that's funny ... i don't have any assets ...) and drive around until i run out of money, my car stops running or i die. whichever comes first. do you know how much of the united states i haven't seen yet? how many bridges i haven't photographed? how much i currently dislike going to an office every day? i'm 29 ... who needs a savings account? i say chuck it all & go drive the country.
i'll do it someday. just you wait & see.
for a good time, i updated my "where i've been" map. look at all the opportunities still out there. and i'm most interested in hitting all the states first. other countries can come later. i haven't spent quality time in even HALF of the states yet.
i'm pretty sure the washer just turned off. the clothes can dry in the morning. i'm going to bed.

bilbo baggins
see ... i wasn't making this up. :)
this morning's happy series of events: i made myself an omelette this morning. i'm a big omelette fan. i mean, the egg is a marvelous thing. toss in your favorite veggies (this morning it was mushroom, green pepper & asparagus) and meats (none today, thank you) ... maybe add a slice of cheese (swiss, yum). yeah, that's good stuff. anyway, i made myself breakfast (sliced tomatoes on the side and a glass of oj) and realized i couldn't eat in the living room like i usually do. well, i could eat there ... but it would require stepping over my niece's quilt. with a plate of food & a glass of oj in my hands? i don't think so. so i came to the next logical place ... my computer desk. now, my blog hasn't been posting since early sunday morning. but i figured i'd dig up the bilbo baggins video anyhow (beth, lynn & i were talking about it last week). i mean, who am i to let a little problem like the blog not publishing stop me from blogging? i can ramble with no one to listen (this was not evident last night ... :D). so i go ahead & tell it to publish so that when my hosting place gets its act together i can easily get the posts up. and it published! yay! that's why you're able to read this. ;) and if you click on the pillows! post you can see the fun pillows i made this weekend. yay for sewing!
my web hosting place, however, still says that server is down. so either that wasn't the problem or they haven't updated their system status page. hmmm .... the quandary ...
